We were members so enjoyed the visit here for 'free' and had audio guides. The history was interesting but there was a limited amount to see here and I don't think I would have paid to see it.

We have driven past this place many times and I have always thought to myself that a small castle or just a wall left from a ruin.

Turns out to be much more then this. What a wonderful place to take a picnic. Yes it is a ruin but the history there is amazing. Look out for the pill boxes built later but so well blended into the castle walls.

I had a wonderful time. I shall visit again next summer. The castle is surrounded by some beautiful countryside. It's really worth the visit. It only took a few hours to get around so we fitted it into a late afternoon but I could have spent all day there it was so peaceful.

Don't forget to check out the little museum up the stairs and the dungeon room

Great half day out plus nice bit of seaside nearby. Good displays u go in and out of doors as you go round so best for good weather unless you take a brolly. Informative displays, learnt some things. Nice places to eat and drink nearby and its got a shop and a big car park.

Interesting castle with links to the battle of hastings. The audio guide is informative and not too long. Dungeon would have been horrid to be in.
