I live nearby this attraction and we finally found the time to go and pay it a visit on the Sunday of May long weekend.
The zoo itself is well set out and the enclosures look large and well kept - viewing areas were well organized and the place never felt crowded. Most of the small rides/in park attractions are aimed at the under 7's so my 5 year old was happy, but my 8 year old seemed a bit lost and focused on the animals instead.
Feeding time at 5PM for the White Lions was great viewing and recommended. Staff were plentiful and always happy to help. Parking was easy and getting in and out was clearly signed and hassle free - unlike some other UK venues I've been to.

A few words about the admission prices: Yes I know it's a zoo and there's a multitude of signs as you go in reminding you of the cost of the upkeep of the zoo and it's tenants etc... however, £70.00 for a family of 4 for a venue that you can get around and see in a little over 3 hours is completely unacceptable. As we were going in and waiting in line a number of other visitors were busy canvassing the others with printed 'discount offers' looking to save themselves and others the sting of the admission charge. Most of these were left disappointed as there always seemed to be some element of small print which extinguished these well intentioned plans. The fact it goes on at all is evidence itself of the overpriced entry to this zoo.
Having to pay again for the mini railway and other in park attractions only added to the sense of being ripped off. My son loved the train (we went 3 x times) and at a further 1£ each time added another 12£ to our day -Ridiculous!

We had a good day and I'll likely go again -- but that admission charge left a bad taste in my mouth and unfortunately prevents me from providing a better review.

What a great place to take the kids, free bouncy castles and loads of swings to keep them happy, the animals are great to see and feels very 'up close' A must is the sky cafe! Where you can eat your lunch overlooking the big cat pen, great day out for all

Visited on Friday 23/5 for a Brunch with the tigers...... a brilliant experience, we were picked up and taken for our brunch at the tiger treetops café, where our host had prepared us a lovely breakfast which we ate while we watched the tigers and our host answered our questions. Our tour guide arrived and took us for a tour of the big cats, she was brilliant so full of knowledge about all the cats and was happy to answer our questions. All staff at the park were friendly, the park was clean and tidy and toilets were of a good standard.

Great selection of animals and if you are visiting with children there is loads of other activity's to keep children happy as well as the animals.

At the side of the zoo there is the national museum of Speedway what a brilliant hidden gem a must to visit even if your not a huge speedway fan ..... its jam packed full of interesting speedway memorabilia to look at.

All in all a brilliant day

I pre booked mine and my partners tickers saving £8 so worth doing!!
We saw some amazing sites today, moments we will never forget. A lion was so close to us, we was beautiful to look at. We saw tigers, white tigers, cheaters, jaguar and many more animals.
We ate in the tiger top cafe, food was good. Homemade chicken and bacon and prawn sandwiches with side salad and nachos was £4.95 each so not unreasonable. We also had view of three beautiful tigers resting in the sunshine!!
You are albe to feed the small animals, lambs, goats, rabbits, ponys with food provided by the park @£1.
The Ice cream/lolly were expensive, twister £2 and dairy milk lolly was £2.50.
Lots of play areas, free and at small cost.
Highly recommended this park and I will be returning!!

Had a great day with all the family for my niece's birthday. Kids loved the animals, and really loved the splash park. Thank god it was a nice warm day!

Food was expensive, so best to take a picnic with you.

My son and I really enjoyed the speedway museum, full of old and new bikes.

Group bookings make the cost a lot cheaper as well.

There are a decent number of animals and the park is quite well laid out.

The highlights for us were the juggling otter (a chap who laid on his back in his enclosure content to balance stones on his hands while his friends were off swimming) and the amorous tortoises (who knew they were so loud!)

There are regular shows, talks and feeds to keep visitors interested. There is also plenty to entertain young children.

Having read other reviews, I understand what people say about small enclosures but the animals seem content enough and are worked well by the keepers. controversially, one may argue that they are in the safest place given that many are endangered in their natural habitats... At the end of the day, if you don't like the idea of animals in captivity, don't visit a zoo!

Marked down to four as it is expensive; an adult only party will realistically get only a couple of hours entertainment. We are mid-way between this and Colchester zoo; the latter is a few pounds more for entry, but is far bigger and more adult oriented. Saying that, pwp is definitely worth a look if you have tesco vouchers or a discounted entry ticket.

Paradise Wildlife Park was one of 100 international zoos chosen to take part in an awareness day for the 22q11 deletion syndrome. My wife and I hosted the event.

09:15 in the morning and we had arrived at Paradise Park – the great advantage in arriving early is you get just THE BEST place to park the car – not in the shade but just outside the Discovery Centre where we had booked a place to meet and greet, to have lunch, to remind people why they were there, and to protect ourselves in case of inclement weather. Inclement – not a chance – bright sunshine and my car was recording 26degrees! It wasn’t long before our families started to arrive – total 167 parents and children eventually.

We had organised a raffle (within our own party) as an incentive for people to return to our room at 2pm for a group photo and a few words from us. Many families used our room to have their picnic lunch – out of the blazing midday sun. Then we ran out of raffle tickets and had to start making them up ourselves – in fact we ‘sold’ about twice as many raffle tickets as last year, and we didn’t have one of Sarah’s cakes as a prize! First prize was a Max Appeal teddy bear with attitude (no – sorry - with dosh – a tenner stuck up his jumper!). Second prize was a this year’s 22q at the Zoo shirt from the USA. We bought a couple of things from the zoo shop to reward ticket buyers for their enthusiasm. We still ended up making a net profit of £133 for Max Appeal charity funds.

Sarah Ryan made a small speech, and Chris set all the adults a challenge – we had had printed a number of postcards with the contact details for Max Appeal and the ‘cocktail’ of symptoms that 22q’ers can exhibit. Every adult in the group accepted our challenge – to take three postcards – to give one to their child’s school teacher (to ‘hit’ the education system) and to drop the other two cards into neighbour’s letterboxes. Four adults didn’t just take three cards – they asked and got a wad of them! #22qAwarenessDays does not stop on 18th May in our book!

We did get to see the Zoo ourselves – from about 3pm – but we didn’t do it justice because we were ‘rather’ tired! What was really good was the smiles of peoples faces – especially the children. It was obvious to us that this Zoo had more for the families to see because there was less walking distance between exhibits than Whipsnade. AND there were more places to buy ice-creams, drinks etc.

Thank you Paradise Park, Broxbourne, Hertfordshire for accommodating us.

The park has a great range of animals and play areas for the kids. Our kids had a fantastic day, so much so our 2 year old son did not want to leave.

The speedway museum was a great little extra.

The only negative for me was that a good number of the areas look old and tired and could do with renovation

Had Amazon local deal so entry was £7.50 children and £9 adults today. We usually go to Whipsnade but my Son has a school trip there in a couple of weeks so decided to try a smaller animal park. My 2 boys loved it here. It was a baking hot day so the fact they didn't have to walk miles to see the animals was a bonus. We easily spent 3 hours in the play park side of the attraction, where there are lots of swings, slides, climbing frames etc plus ride on attractions, a railway, woodland walk and wolves. We had lunch on 1 of the many picnic tables, luckily found 1 in the wood in the shade!

After lunch we crossed the road over to the animals. There are plenty to see, lots of live shows...the bird show is a must. We had a go at the crazy golf and played in the under cover play area for nearly an hour. A round of ice creams later and we finished off at the lagoon, Remember to bring a towel and swim costumes for the littlies.

We spent much more time playing that looking at the animals but the boys thought the place was fab. Check out the map on the PWP website so see all that is on offer.

If you have a small child they will love it here. The outdoor play area & indoor play area are great. We did spend extra on the rides in the Zoo. We were alittle disappointed by the animals,Whipsnade & Woburn have more animals to see & more space for the animals. It was a little sad to see the animals in such small places. Overall tho,we did have a fun day.

Went to the park for a 70th Birthday treat for some friends, and have to say that we were very impressed.

The size of the park is great for wandering around, not too big, and loads of things going on to keep everyone interested. The staff and information around was brilliant, and the interactive areas just make it shine.

It was a great day out for all - and really somewhere we'll definitely be happy to go back to another time.

Visited pwpark with my husband and 3year old son on a Thursday. Read reviews about the space for the animals being small but I personally think it was fine and you got to actually see the animals, we got to see every single animal, and the fact that a tiger jumped up and roared at my husband made my sons day. The play areas are great, lots of bouncy castles, slides and swings and the ball pool was fab. You could take swimwear for you kids to go in the little paddling pool but we wasn't in it too long.
We took our own food and there was plenty of picnic areas. We was there for over 6 hours and had a groupon voucher but I would of been happy even if we paid full gate price.
The only thing is the train ride was not too fun for adults but the sound effects will give you a laugh. All in all a great day out.

As im local, I take my son here at least twice a year. We love it here and learn something new each time. Such a vast variety of animals to see, with a petting zoo and large insect and reptile enclosure. Lots of reasonable places to eat inside and also a non expensive gift shop. Ticket prices are cheap with often discounts and promotions. Theres enough to see and do for a whole day so its defintely worth while. Id recommend coming here with young children, they'd love it :)

We took our small granddaughter there and although she enjoyed seeing the animals and feeding the sheep, goats and pigs, I couldn't help thinking that maybe the big cats were being kept in too small enclosures. The cheetahs were just pacing round and round the enclosure and looked quite bored and the beautiful, absolutely enormous white tiger just looked out of place. I'm sure they're doing it all for the right reasons, but maybe these animals might be better off at somewhere like Whipsnade if they can't be released into the wild.

Just got back from PWP with my 2 boys (1 and 3) and had a really good day out! Lots to do ranging from obviously seeing the animals - white tiger, cheetah and lions the highlight to the bouncy castle and inflatables, playgrounds and indoor soft play, unfortunately not warm enough for the splash pool!

The park is nice and compact and easy to navigate/walk around, we also did the free tractor ride and train ride (small fee).

We took our own lunch and plenty of benches and picnic tables around and undercover as it did rain today.

The park was nice and quiet, a few school trips about but really nice being able to easily view the animals and get on things without waiting (it was a Tuesday so no doubt busier at weekends).

Definitely enough to keep you and the little ones occupied for a full day and I purchased the entry tickets through Groupon (under 2's free) so nice and cheap to!

Will definitely return again!

I brought my husband a gift experience for tea with the tigers which included a day admission to the zoo. The zoo was a great place for family's with plenty of things to do. they even have a speedway museum as well as a little train that takes you on a short ride around the woods. The tiger experience was great the guide had a wide intense knowledge of the big cats and it was def worth getting the inside knowledge of them.
we then finished the day with afternoon tea in the tree top café over looking the lions.
Brilliant day and highly recommended

Great destination for kids. Decent range of animals and not too much walking to do as the park is set on a small area. If finances allow definately try one of the experiences on offer. We fed the penguins and the one to one service combined with the experience really made the day.
Large picnic areas and plenty of things for the kids to do.

I purchased a gift deal for my husband for Xmas of Afternoon Tea with the Tigers. We arrived at 11 and were pleasantly surprised at the size of the zoo, and the amount of info given on the animals. It would be a great place for families as there are many climbing frames and things to do for children. Seeing the bats hanging from the ceiling was quite a sight!
Our afternoon was spent with Ian and a small group, going round all the large cats. Ian is very enthusiastic and obviously loves his job and the animals. We learned a lot from him and understood better why we need zoos.
The afternoon tea was plentiful and quite varied and held in the Treetops Cafe overlooking the tigers, which was lovely. Even though it rained all day, we still enjoyed ourselves!
The only down side was the lunch, very ordinary fare, burgers and chips etc and really not very nice and also expensive.

I thought it was a little expensive at first but enjoyed the visit so much that I changed my opinion to be a very fair price. There is so much to do especially for families with young children. The staff were all very welcoming and took the time to answer any questions.
The conditions the animals were kept in were very clean and it was obvious that they were well cared for and loved.
I was very impressed that they had posters on all the animal enclosures in sign language for deaf people. It was lovely to see somewhere so committed to providing facilities for visitors with special needs.
I really enjoyed my visit and would be happy to go again.

Me and my wife spent a day shadowing the zookeepers at Paradise and it was a fantastic experience. All the keepers were enthusiastic and knowledgable and responded to our many questions with insight, and we got to spend time with a great variety of animals. We helped out feeding lemurs, penguins and red pandas inside their enclosures and unsurprisingly it is truly wonderful to get up-close with these critters.

The keepers really seemed to know and love all of the animals, and as they rotate work areas they knew all sorts about most of the inhabitants.

The big cats, and there are some real beauties here, seemed the happiest I've ever seen despite the relative smallness of some enclosures. This is to do with the way they are treated and the obvious knowledge and skill of their keepers. An enriched environment is clearly worth more than another acre or two of space and it really is a pleasure to interact with them.

We got a great behind-the-scenes look, helping out with some cleaning and food preparation as well as feeding some fantastic carnivores, and I would encourage anyone debating whether to visit to go ahead and do so as we'll never forget the experience.

What a lovely day we had here on Saturday, 3rd May; we enjoyed seeing the great variety of animals in a compact space. The whole place was so well maintained and all the animals looked very healthy. We especially loved the opportunity to feed the lorikeets which was very well managed. I would recommend this zoo to anyone we had such a good time.

Visited Paradise Wildlife park today bank holiday Monday and we had an extremely pleasant day. Arrived around 10am (opens 9.30am)which was perfect as we parked close to the entrance and the queue was small. My daughter,7, noticed the large paddling pool area straight away which we decided to save until the end of the day as we hadn't brought swimwear. Good job as she got drenched fully clothed at the end which she loved lucky it was a warm day and we had extra clothes in car!(TIP take swimwear and swim nappies although they are sold in the onsite shop as are socks for the indoor jungle play area) There is a lovely grass area surrounding the paddling pool with lots of benches perfect for picnics, also an undercover area for hotter days to keep the younger children out of the sun.Park was very clean and tidy, all bins had lids! Which is something i personally love to see as i can't stand them and having thousands of them buzzing around you, your food and the kids constantly at other theme parks while in queues etc has really spoilt my day on other occasions so big thumbs up for PWP for having a wasp free zone! :) Signage on park could be better there is some, its just small and not so easy to see although they do provide a map at the ticket booth.Lots of interesting play parks to keep the kids amused well kept, nice variety not just your everyday stuff, also ample seating around for tired parents/grandparents to rest their legs!Plenty of food and drinks ice cream available can't comment on prices because we took our own to save money. I also printed a 20% off voucher which knocked £13 off, a discount is always a bonus it allows for a treat from the souvenir shop.Very nice surroundings trees and forest and colourful flowerbeds, lots of fact boards about the animals which is good for older kids like our daughter to learn about animals and conservation. The animals were wonderful you can get quite close to take photo's and even hand feed the animals at the farmyard which was great we fed them petted them and got nice photo's feed was £1 a bag available nearby. The Speedway museum kept daddy happy, an interesting little place for any petrolhead. Very good system in place to enable safe crossing to the other side of the park from the first part with all the play park's and small children running all over the place. It enables parents to relax in the knowledge that the kids are running free but they are safe from the road. The fine weather was wonderful and enhanced the day, all the big cats were certainly enjoying it sprawling out on top of their platforms in the warm sunshine, white lions and white tiger too fantastic!! There's endless things to do animal talks, the jungle theatre, also face painting and bodyart booths scattered around to decorate the kids Haha! The Bird show was one of the highlights for me very informative talk from Nicky she was brill even when the birds weren't doing as planned! Beautiful birds owls parrots birds of prey great selection so that's definitely worth seeing! So overall i would say paradise wildlife park is GREAT! PWP is a smaller place than the usual zoo's and parks but still loads to do and in no way a bad thing at all. We left easily around 4pm all really tired from a busy and exciting day out although regrettably without having had time to get round to the presentations or rides on the train or tractor that we'd missed.TIP Its worth planning which ones you want to see when you arrive so you don't miss out)
Staff could've been friendlier and more smiley to be honest the guys showing the tortoises didn't say a word no info nothing only to tell the kids only to touch the shell that could've been better i suppose. Nicky from the bird show was the only one that didn't look miserable at work!I know its bank holiday Monday and they're at work but come on guys a smile and more friendlier attitudes wouldn't go amiss! Overall, Brilliant day out had by all plenty to do, well set up, good facilities clean tidy safe excellent animal encounters (i patted a tapir, the hubby got nipped by the pony and the child went through 3 bags of goat feed!) beautiful beautiful animals, peaceful countryside setting the list goes on its absolutely fantastic for people with young families under 8's well worth a visit everyone!
Paradise wildlife park is great i would definitely go again :D

This is a place you have to go to. Not only do you get to stay over and hear the animals before you get up in the morning, the breakfast with the tigers and the keepers talk and handling the animals is fab.

It is a truly amazing experience and the accommodation is very clean and spacious.

Cannot fault this experience.

Paradise wild life park offers fantastic experience for families with young children. Well maintained and animal collection is wide and interesting. Free parking but too short spaces. Advance booking could save money. Tesco Vouchers can be used. At the entrance children play area and shows are held. The mini train is fun to ride for one pound. Children enjoy the train trip. There are walks to explore the nature. The Animal area offers a wide range of animals and birds. Its amazing. There are regular shows and presenters are doing a great job. Tractor ride is fun. A theatre offers shows also. Overall its a value for money and great for birthday treat. I would certainly recommend this for young families.
